Welcome to all the people finding there way to this subpage and abviously being interested in a review from Over-Night.org. The following things are really important for your apply of getting reviewed, so please read them carefully or otherwise there might go something wrong!

First of all: What is a review?
Another word for review is rating. According to certain categories I will give my opinion on your homepage and give you points. The written explanations why I gave which points will detailed and is there to help you make your page a bit better than before.

Please keep in mind that this is only my subjective point of view and that you do not have to change the things I stated as ‘could be done better’. Just take a note of them and perhaps keep them in mind

Below you will find the rules, the point-based system (plus explanation and the maximum you can reach), as well as the waiting reviews and the finished ones (plus link).

Rules

Read them carefully

You must not have a pornographic, racist etc. site. Those will never be reviewed by me!
I will not review pro-ana, Olya, Myspace, Beepworld etc. sites!
You have to give a link to Over-night.org to be reviewed!
Your layout has to be done by you! I won’t review pages with downloaded layouts!
I review the pages according to my likes, dislikes, opinion etc. The review contains my subjective opinion!
I will take my time with the review, so please be patient and wait a little and do not ask me every day when I will be finished.
Your site should be finished before you apply for a review! I will not review sites that are under construction!
You can leave a eMail or comment for a review application. (to murderprincess@over-night.org)
I do take a close look at the ones wanting to be reviewed by me and then I decide whether I’ll accept or not!

If you do not follow the rules you will not be reviewed… easy thing!

The point-based System

Here you will see how my review will be structured and how the points will be given.
Read through it carefully before you apply for a review because this might help you to get a better result in the end and to prevent misunderstandings.

1. The first impression [maximum 15 points]
The first impression is really important because your visitors decide whether to stay or to leave again. What impression does your site give to the visitors?
What is positive, what negative at first sight?

2. Layout, Coding and Validity [maximum 30 points]
The layout has a major impact on the appearance of your page but also the coding and the validity are really important for a good homepage.
Your site should be coded a way that the major browsers can cope with it. Otherwise there will be huge differences in the appearance. I will check if your layout is well-structured, if it has good combinations of colors, if it is well-readable etc. The validity will be check with a Validator that I also used to check on my layout, I will view your main layout with different browsers and will have a look at your source code!

3. Spelling style, Clarity and Actuality [maximum 25 points]
A good homepage requires certain things. A part of that is your style of writing and expressing yourself. Nobody wants to read entries with lots of mistakes in them so that they are hardly readable. People want to understand what they see. Another part is the clarity and also the actuality of your page. Your site has to be well-structured and people should find immediately what they are searching for. Actuality is that you often post news or entries, talking about anything you like, but also that you delete dead links, broken URLs or damaged tags. These are things people see and notice and if they are bad, they will stay away from your site!

4. Loading Time [maximum 5 points]
I myself have problems with that, but I also know that it is quite bad to let the visitors wait a long time. If your page loads far too long I will comment on it here and also if it is okay or good

5. Linkage [maximum 5 points]
Did you link me properly? Can I find a link to Over-Night directly or do I have to search around for it? (There is no difference in linking me with a button or text link just remember to link me somewhere, where people would search for such a link)

6. Information [maximum 20 points]
Information connect the viewers to your site. If you give lots of information about the site and yourself and certain other things people will remember you more easily and they will feel like they are involved in your site. If you give little information there is nothing interesting to read for them about you or the site. Back the information up with images, songs etc. Be creative, then you will get all the points here!

8. Conclusion [no points]
Here will only stand a summary of the things told above and the actual points you have reached in the end. I will again give you some examples to make a somehow better homepage, which does not mean your site is bad now. There just might be some things I have to criticize. Perhaps the conclusion will be just good, then I don’t have any major complains about the homepage at all. This will be just for you to have a résumé =)

If you wanna apply for a review, please, send me an eMail / write a comment containing the name of your page, the url, your name/nickname and whether you want to be reviewed in german or in english. This is really important for me, because I wanna write reviews in the way people understand it. With sending me an eMail with the apply you allow me to publish the review here on this homepage, viewable for everyone, no matter how the result will be. You also allow me to do a screenshot of your most recent layout to show what layout I have been reviewing!
Furthermore, if you have any questions concerning the reviews, please do not hesitate to send an eMail or ask a question or post a comment. I will be there and help you with understanding the rules etc.

Please do not complain about the result you get in the end. I have my reasons and I will state them in the review itself. If you do not want a honest but just good review please go and find someone else to do that. I will only comment on the page the way I want. And I can say that I do not wanna put someone/something down, I’m just honest with what I say.
